Market Debrief (Thursday May 12, 2022)

Happy Thursday Stock Talkers! Stocks endured another choppy session with Nasdaq finishing up on the day. The main technology stocks were the ones to blame for the lag on the market today. Stocks continued to be choppy as the investors are still digesting the inflation numbers that were put out yesterday. The major talk of the day was cryptocurrency as $800B of value has been lost. A lot of worrying is becoming apparent in all investments. Fear is upon us and a huge sell-off is continuing to happen. However, it is an ideal time to find some great companies that are trading at really good valuations and get into them. This is a make or break opportunity for investors and has potential to give off some wonderful returns. I think the Fed needs to step up there game because they seem to be behind a little bit. I really want to see my portfolio turn it around because it is hard to watch, but you have to trust these companies for the long-term because it will grow your wealth. Major Indices:

Market Debrief (Wednesday May 11, 2022)

Happy Wednesday Stock Talkers! Stocks were headed in the right direction in the early part of the trading session until investors got a hold of the inflation report. Inflation rose 8.3% Y/Y in April, which is a decrease from the amount reported in March. A lot of experts were expecting it to be 8.1%, so with it coming in higher than expected, this is not a good sign for the slowing of things. Volatility seems to be the new norm in these uncertain times with all stocks, except a few, getting hammered right now. Even giant blue-chip stocks are taking hits based on the uncertainty of the market. We are just trying to figure out where the bottom is going to be, but even that seems to be highly uncertain right now. The pressure lies on the Federal Reserve right now to manage inflation without striking a recession. These looming times are unfortunate for investors, but the patience is what is going to lead to wealth. Major Indices:      S&P 500      3,935.18  -65.87 (-1.65%) DJI

Market Debrief (Thursday May 5, 2022)

Happy Cinco De Mayo Stock Talkers! Wow! Stocks took a huge dump today after the huge jump after the Fed decision yesterday. Nasdaq fell almost 5% and Dow was down over 1,000 points. I would officially call this an epic bear market. The indices are now trading almost like meme stocks and seem to be fluctuating everyday. Investors seemed to be pleased with the decision of the Fed yesterday and caused the stocks to soar after the meeting. However, today seemed to play a different story. The stocks tanked as there was a resurgence of fear that the Fed will be able to effectively curb inflation without putting the economy into any sort of recession. I think we were cheering on the fact that we weren't going to see 0.75 interest rate hikes, but in reality this might be seen as too mild of a path to curb the inflation. I think consumers are sick and tired of seeing these high prices swarming the economy and want an end to it. It is so volatile in the market right now, it is practically i

Market Debrief (Wednesday May 4, 2022)

May the 4th be with you Stock Talkers! Stocks traded mixed up until the Fed meeting and the decision that was made. Then stocks rallied after that point with Dow finishing up 932 points and Nasdaq finishing up over 3%. Jerome Powell decided that the future increase of a .75 interest rate hike was not in discussion at the moment. That doesn't take away from the fact they did implement a 0.50 interest rate hike, the highest in two decades. The federal funds rate now sits between 0.75% and 1%. The interest rate hike was expected, so that's why it didn't seem to be too big of a deal for investors. The Fed also announced that they were delaying the quantitative tightening of their balance sheet to June 1. The policy was set to start this month, but they decided to push it back and will ease into it for the first three months. Powell announced that we seem to be in a good position and that we shouldn't expect a downturn. This allowed stocks to extend it win streak to 3 days.

Market Debrief (Tuesday May 3, 2022)

Happy Tuesday Stock Talkers! Stocks traded mixed today, but finished the session higher to have back-to-back days in the positive to start May. The main lurking of investors right now is the next moves by the Fed. Stocks lacked any sort of direction today as a bunch of factors are lingering on the economy right now. Volatility is high and huge swings in stock prices seem like a norm this year. The next moves by the Fed seem to be known already, it will just be the matter of how the investors will digest it. We will find out, hopefully tomorrow, what the Fed is going to do. This will give some sense of direction for the market. I like the start the May has brought us so far, but I'm not going to get my hopes up s a swing of volatility will most likely be headed our way shortly. Keep an eye out for more earnings reports coming out, as they also have some dictation on the market. Remember, as investors, don't panic right now. Use this time to pick up some valuable companies at lo
