Opinion:
Medtronic stock sunk during todays session after reporting earnings before the market opened this morning. The company missed on expectations in both the current quarter earnings report and the fiscal year earnings report. They were able to achieve an increase in revenue compared to last fiscal year. They also saw a big increase in EPS for the fiscal year as well. Medtronic seems to be in a solid place with their cash flows from operation and free cash flow. They also announced an increase in the quarterly dividend payout. I can see why the stock sunk a little bit, which was solely due to a miss on earnings. However, they had a solid outlook and the overall fiscal year wasn't too bad in a sense. Looking at stock performance, the company is down about 21% for the year. With a P/E ratio at 27.03 and a P/S ratio at 4.20, it seems a bit expensive, but they have some better metrics when looking at future P/E ratios and future P/S ratios. I do not know a lot about this company at all. I have never really been into the medical stocks and no little about the medical industry. However, it seems to be a mediocre business and stock to own. I can't give a fair judgement right now, just because I don't understand the whole business.
