Market Debrief (Tuesday March 15, 2022)

Happy Tuesday Stock Talkers!

Investor sentiment was extremely high today, as all major indices saw some massive gains. Oil prices dropped once again today, which has been a contrast to the fears that oil prices would skyrocket due to the war in Ukraine. Oil prices have seen a 27% decline since reaching all time highs at $130.50 a barrel last week. The main reason investor sentiment soared today was due to the fact that the U.S. producer prices were unchanged for the first time in a year, which is a sign that inflation may be shifting to a little more easing on prices. We are also expecting that the interest rate hike will occur this week, which would put interest rates above near-zero levels for the first time since 2018. This will be something to watch out for in the next couple of days. On the other side of the world, a covid outbreak has seen to taken place in China, causing investors to digest and assess. This could also be something to keep an eye out for as it develops. I loved the strong setting of the market today, hopefully we can turn the tide on inflation as start seeing indices get out of correction territory and into some gains on the year.
