Market Debrief (Monday April 4, 2022)

Happy Monday Stock Talkers! Stocks kicked off the week on a high note, with Nasdaq leading the way with gains of 1.90%. Investors are on the lookout for more sanctions to be pressed against Russia, but that wasn't the main story of the day. Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced this morning that he now has a 9.2% stake in Twitter. Twitter traded higher today, rising a tad bit over 27% during todays trading session. This was the cause of the Technology to go higher and caused some investors to speculate what he might do with his stake. Globally, investors have their eye on the European Union as they advance with measures to be put in place against Russia. Over the weekend, travelers saw mass cancellations with certain airlines, causing a huge controversy in the travel industry. Some of the cancellations were blamed on the weather, while the other cancellations seemed too arise from "technological problems". I firmly believe this could have been a potential cyber attack from Russi...

Market Debrief (Friday March 1, 2022)

Happy Friday and First Trading Day of Q2 Stock Talkers! Stocks picked up steam to start the quarter out on a positive note. Oil decreased and settled at about $99 per barrel. We have a warning coming out saying a recession could be likely to happen. We had the 2-year Treasury bond invert with the 10-year Treasury bond. The last 8 times this has happened, it has led to a recession. This could be an interesting move for stocks as we could see major indices fall back into correction territory and stocks take some hits again. My suggestion is to start finding some companies with solid track records and companies that you like. Just so if this recession hits, you can have some golden opportunities to get into some of these solid companies at discount prices. Major Indices:      S&P 500      4,545.86  +15.45 (+0.34%) DJI              34,818.27  +139.92 (+0.40%) Nasdaq        14,2261.50...

Market Debrief (Thursday March 31, 2022)

Happy Thursday Stock Talkers! Major indices suffered some major declines on Thursday, which closed out the first quarter of 2022. This was the first quarter that major indices finished down since 2020. A lot of weight on todays trading was based on Biden's announcement to release oil from the reserves to try and mitigate spiking gas prices. His plan consists of releasing 1 million barrels of oil a day starting in May and continuing this trend for 6 months. This will be interesting to see how it pans out, as our president has put the blame on Putin for the rising energy prices and claims we don't have the necessary resources to supply our oil at reasonable prices. In positive news, April has been a historically favorable month for stocks over the past decade and a half. Investors gained some optimism with a 4 day winning streak appearing at the beginning of the week, but two back to back days of losses bring back a fear of volatility in the market. I and all other investors are...

Market Debrief (Wednesday March 30, 2022)

Happy Wednesday Stock Talkers! Stocks finished lower today to end the 4-day winning streak they had going for them. S&P and Dow finished with mediocre declines while Nasdaq plummeted over 1%. Oil prices traded higher for the first time in 3 days as deescalation of the war seems to be the hope of everyone. The 10-year Treasury note yields and the 2-year Treasury note yields briefly intervened yesterday, which if history repeats itself, could be a sign of a recession. In other news, Apple has come out with plans to create its own payment platform system, which caused other small online payment companies to take a hit. This could be a make or break situation for a lot of these smaller companies due to the fact that a lot of them rely on these stingy little payments to fund their entire business. Some of them even have partnerships with Apple, and those could be cutoff if Apple is successful in creating their own payment platform.  Major Indices:      S&P 5...
