Opinion:
Ford dipped a slight bit on the past earnings report for the first quarter of the fiscal year. The company beat expectations in both quarters, but didn't have the best quarter in comparison to last years numbers. Ford reported a loss of $3.1B this past quarter and a lot of it was due to the supply chain issues. The company is having trouble keeping up with the demand of the new products they have to offer. Ford has come out with some new popular models that are dominating the new car market by storm. Where I live, I see a new Bronco on the road almost everyday. With the new Lightning starting production, Ford needs to figure out an effective way to keep up with this demand. In a normal market, Ford would be killing it right now, due to the strong consumer demand they are experiencing. The company sold out its Lightning reservations in minutes, cutting off any further reservations due to demand issues. I currently own a decent share in the stock. I bought it before it took off to reach all-time highs earlier this year. However, it has fallen back down from the sky and is trading back at normal levels. I truly like this stock for the long-term though. The company has really strong demand, and when the supply chain issues resolve, the company is going to take off. I have a lot of confidence in their EV investment as well. The Lightning has seem to be an early success, but the performance of the vehicle will be a big determinant of how successful this EV investment will be. We can't forget the relatively nice stake the company has in Rivian that also gives them a share in their EV journey. Ford is definitely a stock with a lot of upside, so I would buy in and start reinvesting those dividends to go along with it.
