Opinion:
Waste Management is one of the few stocks that are trading higher today. The company reported earnings before the market opened this morning. Waste Management beat expectations on both EPS and Revenue by decent margins. Revenue saw double-digit growth on a year-over-year basis and they paid out $525M to shareholders. The cash flows were fluctuated based on last years numbers, but are relatively strong. The were able to put up $1.26B in operating cash flow, which is a positive given their revenue numbers. This company is probably one of my favorite stocks to hold forever and reinvest dividends. Trash is a business that will be hard to put out of business, just because everyone has to get rid of their trash somehow. I know a lot of cities service them to make money. However, you have to think of all the people who live outside the city limits and the contracts they have to have with trash companies. I personally own a pretty good position in this company and plan to expand on it as it keeps growing. I really like how they were able to increase revenues by a double-digit number this year. I also like the fact that they paid out a pretty penny of their revenues to investors, but still retained some to invest back into their business. My recommendation is to at least get into a position as early as you can in your investing journey and reinvest your dividends back into this company. You'll be shocked how much this will impact your ROI on this company alone.
